Some Catchin Up To Do

It's been quite a while since I last wrote, practically 2 months to be exact. It's just that our life has been preeeettty boring. We go to work, Kohn goes to school, and we repeat. Sometimes we get an occasional Jamba, but that's about as exciting as it gets right now. Oh and we're primary teachers. But we have exciting things in store.

We PLAN to hike lots this summer, and go on bike rides, and night runs. We wanna go to the Lake, and we want to go backpacking. We want to run every 5k we can possibly imagine. I've never realized just how much I love summer until recently. Winter is seriously boring, because #1, I hate being cold, and #2, there are limited things to do in the winter that are enjoyable.

We did go skiing one time...on the bunny hill I felt like I had it in the bag, and then we went to a hill a little (a lot) more extreme. It all went downhill from there. My hips have never hurt so bad from all the snowplowing I did. There was actually a point where I took my skis off (well one was already off because of a nice biff) and just walked down part of the mountain. I definitely learned something about myself that day, and that is that I like to have control. Yeah, I know none of you are shocked haha but at least I realize it now.

Anyway, my point was, there are limited things I can do to have fun in the winter. More power to those who can ski and be good at it.

Also, there's been a little change in our plans that we had for the next 2 years. The plan was to do the same thing we're doing now until Kohn goes to PT school, in hopefully Colorado. But anyways, we were going to work the same jobs, Kohn was going to continue to do his school and it was all going to be great. Well, now, I actually think I'm going to go back to school.

I've become slightly obsessed with Grey's Anatomy and any medical show I can find...and it has made me want to do something medical. But because my gag reflexes can only handle so much my options are very limited. So, I've chose to be an MA (Medical Assistant). I'd be the girl who called your name at a doctors appointment, weighed you, and took your vitals ;) haha but really...it sounds fun to me and I think I'd really enjoy doing it! I don't know when it's going to happen but Kohn and I are figuring things out so it can happen in the next little while.

I wish I had something more exciting to say, but I don't. I don't even have cool Spring Break stories to tell. Because Spring Break was spent working. Wow, we are too exciting for our own good.

We are taking off to Salt Lake for the weekend to celebrate Kohn's birthday though, so that will be fun! And we will be taking a trip to Colorado in May for Shawn and Jen's wedding! And David, Angela, and Jaxon will be living in Weston for the summer. So I guess we do have some things to look forward to! I guess we just need to get through the boring parts. And we need to get through them fast.

Any-who, that's about all I've got for now. Maybe I'll write again soon. Maybe not.

A Recipe To Share!

All is well at the Thedell home! Same things as usual-work, school, work. And for now, we like it that way!

Kohn has been working a little more than usual (actually kinda a lot more) because they have a show coming up...Kohn gets workout equipment ready so when stores like Sears and Dick's and such come to ICON, they look at what ICON has to offer and decide what to buy and you get the point...so, Kohn has been working a lot...and that leaves me to....make yummies! :)

So, I wanted to share with you what I made today. It is one of my favorite desserts! I don't usually make it though, but this recipe was ridiculously easy, and fast, and delicious, so I may make it more now...

Before I share it with you I just need to clarify it is not MY recipe...I found it on pinterest, which led me to the blog it was from...which you can find by going here... www.theviewfromthegreatisland.blogspot.com :) Anyways....here it is! And enjoy! So good!

Oatmeal Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar

*Cream the butter, sugars, and vanilla in a bowl. Add in the egg and beat well.

*Add in the oats and mix with spatula until well blended.

*Spread out evenly in an 8x8 baking pan and bake for about 20 minutes, until just golden. Let cool while you prepare the frosting.

All That Surgery Stuff.

All I want to do is scrub the floors, do the dishes, scrub the counters, and just scrub...but when I just sit up I get all sorts of light headed and nauseous. This is not fun.

I'm supposed to go back to work tomorrow, and I actually really want to, because 3 days of nothingness is getting really old. I slept for 10 hours last night, and then came downstairs and fell asleep on the couch for a little nap a few hours later. It's just so exhausting doing nothing all day...

I went in for surgery Monday morning, I had to check in at 6:30 am. The surgery was scheduled to go from 7:30-8:45. Well surgery started at like 7:50 (I think). The last thing I remembered was laying on that table and episodes of Grey's Anatomy going through my mind (and that only makes sense if you watch that show), and then next thing I knew I was very groggy, everything was blurry, and I felt like I had just gotten done with the worst ab workout, EVER.

I don't remember much of the morning in the hospital after the surgery, but I guess I just really wanted a Diet Dr. Pepper, but only if it was diet. Apparently my pain was a 7, but I didn't want drugs, and I was fiiiine. And I would only take water if it came from Kohn. And I guess I was really set on my parents coming to my house to watch Pitch Perfect with me. And the anesthesiologist was hitting on me...and Kohn needed to beat him up. Haha I don't know. I'm just glad they got a kick out of it.

I was supposed to be discharged around 10:30, but we didn't get out of there until 12:30. Because I just don't handle anesthetics very well, and the nausea gets to me pretty bad. And hoooly cow, the gas that they put in my belly really does make my shoulder hurt!

The first day I just complained about my shoulder, Tuesday I complained a lot about my incisions and nausea, and today I just feel exhausted. And a bit nauseous, but nothing like it's been. Oh, and I'm fat. Kohn and I spent a few minutes laughing about how bloated my belly is from the gas, I can't wait for that to go away. I hardly eat anything, and I think it's due to the yucky feeling, and because I feel full all the time because of how bloated I am. This is not fun stuff, I'm telling ya!

But anyway, they got rid of those nasty cysts, and sadly found some endometriosis, and a small adhesion, but they burnt the endometriosis. I'm kind of bothered because I did get to talk to my doctor after the surgery, but I talked to him in the recovery room and don't remember a thing. He did talk to Kohn and kind of filled him in on some things, but I just want to be able to ask the questions I need to ask. But I have to wait for my post-op in 2 weeks. We were lucky though, because the doctor had talked about worse things happening, and they didn't happen, so that was a relief. But I think my mind will just kind of wander until I talk to my doctor. Poop.

I'm trying to be done with the pain killers, because I'm not supposed to drive on loritab, but I'm starting to feel it. Again, I say, this is not fun.

I knew this was a small surgery so I didn't expect to feel quite so awful. But I feel awful. I really am ready for this to just be done.

I'm still a little loopy, and let me tell you, when I was looking in the mirror yesterday I surely looked drugged up. And was finding great entertainment in looking at pictures of my ovaries...I really need to get out!!!

I've had some pretty great people around. My parents came to be with me right after surgery, Jenessa made us dinner that first night, and Chelsea made a delicious treat! Some of our neighbors brought over some fruit pizza (my favorite), Jean came over and took care of me yesterday and cooked dinner! And she gave me a cute little pampering gift bag! And of course I've had great friends and family texting and checking in on me. I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot to mention someone, because I can hardly think straight, but thanks to everyone! I've got some pretty great people in my life!

Nothing Exciting

School started today...poop. Goodbye husband! And he has two night classes this semester, so that is poopy as well! At least I have a job to keep me occupied....except at night, I don't have a job. Sometimes I've thought of maybe getting a little something on the side, like hostessing at a restaurant or something...but again, those are just thoughts.

I'm sitting here trying to find a reason behind this post, other than just because I wanted to type....

Surgery is in one week...I actually thought that my cysts might have popped before the surgery, just because it seemed like a long time to wait...but what do ya know? They sure did not pop. So surgery is still a go. Is it weird that I'm kind of nervous about it? All it is is a little incision...but from all the Grey's Anatomy I've been watching I think I've spooked myself, because it seems that on that show even the simplest surgeries can go wrong....oh well, I won't be on TV so there's nothing to be worried about. I just sometimes worry over nothing....a lot.

Oh, and p.s., we have an essential oils class this Wednesday, the 9th, at the Sky View rec center, 6-8 pm. We'll be learning about managing stress with the mood matrix oils! So if you're into that, you should come, it's FREE!

With that said...I don't know what to say. Maybe one day I'll really have a point behind this blog. But for now...we're kind of boring. And we kind of just work.

So I'll be done for tonight. And probably until I have something exciting to say.

Year in Review!

So now that I don't "have to" blog to keep up with my thankful posts I will just blog for fun. So it sounded fun to me to kind of look back and jot down little memories about the year 2012. It might be a little boring, because we have a kind of boring life with work and school, but I still think it will be fun anyway.

January 2012...I had to really think on this one, after all it was a year ago. All I could really think of was that I realized that I wanted to do childcare. And we started out our first real year together ;)

February 2012...I became the full time teacher at Discovery Depot and this was what I guess you could call a good experience...I grew from it, that's for sure. I also celebrated my 20th birthday (yes, I'm a young duck) it was my first birthday with Kohn and I together, and he sure spoiled me rotten. We went on a carriage ride in Salt Lake City, we ate at The Roof on top of the Joseph Smith Building, and it was fantastic! And of course he spoiled me with a fun shopping trip!

March 2012...We celebrated Kohn's 22nd birthday this month! We went to Salt Lake again and went out to eat at Ruth's Chris, a steakhouse that Kohn had been dying to go to! He was pretty pleased with that part of his birthday surprise and compares every steak he eats to the steak there! We also went and played at Boondox! Also during that weekend we went to the Festival of Colors which was the first time for both of us! We wanna make it a tradition....well at least we're going to try!

April 2012...Not much comes to mind on this one...all I know is that we worked and did school and loved being married!

May 2012...May was a good month! We got to go back to Indiana to go through the temple with Edna, an elderly woman that Kohn baptized on his mission! It was a special experience and of course we were thrilled to find any excuse to head that way! I also got a different job! I switched from home day care to a center called Best Friends! Best thing I've ever done for my "career"! I love what I do and the people I do it with!

June 2012...This month probably wasn't too exciting, but it was in the fact that we got to start spending our summer together! Oh but at the end of this month we ran our first half marathon! We beat our goal and had so much fun doing it!

July 2012...The usual happened this month, we celebrated 4th of July and the 24th of July! Lots of fireworks, parades, and cooking on the grill!

August 2012...In August we got to run the EPIC relay. Which goes from Sky View high school in Smithfield all the way to Teton Village in Jackson, Wyoming! What an experience that was! Surely we enjoyed it though because we're signed up to do it again this coming August!

September 2012...Kohn started school again, I became contracted at work, meaning I became the other 1 year old teacher and got benefits. And of course, Shawn's brother married Jen, and we like her! So that is always exciting! :)

October 2012...October was fun with Halloween and such! I dressed up as a hippy and Kohn was the coolest ever, a lego!

November 2012...November was BUSY! We celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary, we moved, and we ran RAGNAR in Vegas. Same idea as EPIC but I'm not really sure where we ran, pretty much just around outside the strip. But it was a good time! We got to run it with some friends and two of my AWESOME ;) brother in laws! Brad is especially awesome.....;) and then of course there was Thanksgiving and all the turkey you could possibly dream of!

December 2012...More business with holiday parties and of course Christmas! We spoiled each other rotten for Christmas and just loved having a break from work!

See, nothing too exciting, but it's exciting for me that I can remember most things that happened last year...but chances are I forgot to list some pretty cool things! Oops. That's how it goes.

But blogging is just going to be for fun now, you may see more posts, you may see less, I guess we'll just have to find out!

Bring in 2013!

Well here it comes....the rest of my thankfuls...I have exactly 36 to type up here...can I do it? I don't know. But I better get started....

#331...I am thankful for Thanksgiving. Sadly most people only let their thankfulness show around then, if they even let it show. It's just nice to see most everyone be kind, even if only for a little.

#332...I am thankful for the mop I bought today. I've been using sponges and getting down on my hands and knees....and while that's been fun I had even more fun getting it done in like .25 seconds because I had a mop!

#334...I am thankful for the temple. We don't go nearly enough, but that is one of our goals for the new year, to go at least once a month. We went to the temple a few weeks ago and the spirit felt was amazing and I just love being reminded of all the blessings I can have.

#335...I am thankful for nails. Because without nails I wouldn't be able to hang up all my pictures in my apartment. I love that it feels more and more like a home.

#336...I am thankful for others examples. As sad as it is, some people are afraid to show a spiritual side, in fear of what others will think. I love those people that just put themselves out there and bare their testimony and aren't afraid to show what they believe at all. Not that I'm afraid or anything, but I definitely have some work to do, I mainly need to not be so shy. I just love the examples I see, because as it would, it makes me want to be a better person and better at sharing the gospel.

#337...I am thankful for Dr. Noorda. He's the second opinion doctor, and let me tell you, he is fantastic. He made me feel comfortable, he made me laugh, he was honest with me, and he cared about what I wanted to do, and let ME make decisions.

#338...I am thankful for insurance. There's no way I'd be able to visit the doctor like I have been without it. And surgery, thank goodness there is insurance there for that.

#339...I am thankful for the little signs in grocery stores above the aisles that tell you what you'll find in that aisle. If it weren't for those I'd be lost in grocery stores for hours.

#340...I am thankful that I can still be a "kid" with my husband. Sure we have to be grown up, but it's fun to just have fun together sometimes. And we do. We joke around, we talk in kid voices, and we enjoy life. It's great to take those breaks and stop stressing about things.

#341...I am thankful for fleece. I made some fleece blankets for Christmas and I never knew how much I loved fleece until I cuddled up in Kohn's blanket. The blanket might as well be mine now. Haha.

#342...I am thankful Kohn knows what he's doing when it comes to money. Because let's be honest, if I were the one handling bills I just don't think things would be going as smoothly as they are with Kohn in charge. He's pretty great, and smart too.

#343...I am thankful that I was born into the church. I can't picture my life not being born into it. Would I have been strong enough to accept the truth if I wasn't told it from the second I could understand? I don't know how things would have been, I like to think I would have accepted it. But I'm thankful I've always had the blessing of it in my life.

#344...I am thankful for how yummy soap smells. There is nothing I love more than the smell of the bathroom after a shower. It just smells clean, and not like Pine Sol clean, but just clean and yummy! And it's so warm!

#345...I am thankful for snow. Sure it's not fun to drive in, and it's cold, but it is what makes Christmas! And we sure did have a white one this year!

#346...I am thankful for lower gas prices. Just right around the time when we started filling our tank more than usual the prices dropped. That was definitely a huge blessing for us, and our wallets.

#347...I am thankful for the radio. I would hate driving so much more if I didn't get to listen to music while I drive!

#348...I am thankful that I actually found time to get this post done. Because it was something that I really wanted to accomplish, just to say I could. I know that I didn't put a thankful up every day, but I still will get 366 (Yeah I figured it is 366 with the extra day in February) things that I'm thankful for. And that's great. Plus, you would've gotten sick of reading something EVERY day.

#349...I am thankful for people who don't judge. We're not perfect, and we all have flaws. But thank goodness for the few people who don't care about those things.

#350...I am thankful that I can count. Counting is very important and if I couldn't count I wouldn't have been able to do this project.

#351...I am thankful for how supportive Kohn is. He is always there to cheer me on when I start something new, even if we both know in the back of our minds that it's not going to last long.

#352...I am thankful for the fantastic Christmas break I've had. I haven't gotten a lot accomplished, because I've been lazy. But I never get to be lazy so it was nice to do it for a little bit. Plus I still got important things done, so it was a win-win situation anyway.

#353...I am thankful for bubble baths. Whenever my cysts hurt they're just about the only thing that can help me feel a little bit better, even if just for the short time I'm in the bath. Sometimes I just wanna live in bubble baths, but then my hands would look like old lady hands, and we don't want that.

#354...I am thankful for how considerate my parents are. They do their very best to make sure Christmas is great for everyone, and I tell you what, they do a dang good job! We were spoiled by them, and I love the outfit I got from them! They've actually got good taste for old people ;) but seriously...my parents always want to make everyone happy, and that makes me happy! And I'm so thankful for their love and love them so much!

#355...I am thankful for a phone that works. My last one stopped working, so it was great to get a new one for just 99 cents, and it works! Wooo!

#356...I am thankful for new chances. That's what every new year is, a new chance to start all over. I was kind of a bum about it and said it was stupid...but the more I thought about it, it's really not. What a perfect time to turn your life around and make it what you want it to be. And to have the rest of the world trying to change things too make for great support.

#357...I am thankful for cute old men that always have nice things to say. Sometimes all I need to hear is an old man tell me I'm a pretty girl and I feel happy! Not that I'm into old men, it's just that they have been around for a while so they know a pretty girl when they see one, they've seen all sorts of people!

#358...I am thankful that I haven't gotten any yucky sicknesses that have been going around. I haven't got a cold, and on Christmas a flu bug started spreading around my family. My dad and Angela had it, then David got it, then Meagan, Rikki, and mom had it...but Kohn and I never got hit!

#359...I am thankful that I was able to accomplish this...I really needed it for my ego.

#360...I am thankful that there is a surgery to help my medical problem. It will help the pain go away, it will help. And I'm excited...who knew someone would be excited about getting cut into...

#361...I am thankful for magnets. That way I can put important things on my fridge.

#362...I am thankful for all the things I've been through to help shape me into the person I am, and the person that I am going to be. We all go through things to only make us better, as long as we handle it the right way.

#363...I am thankful my life doesn't have any gigantic drama in it. Sure there are little things that I make a big deal out of, but then I look at things other people are going through and I've got nothing compared to them. I've got it pretty good.

#364...I am thankful for blinds, who wants people looking in their windows!

#365...I am thankful the world didn't end on December 21 ;) I still have too much life to live.

#366...I am thankful for the past year. I've learned a lot about life and a lot about myself. I know there is still a lot to be learned, and I'm ready to learn it. I'm ready for a new year though. A new journey, new beginnings.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

....and that's my story!

It has been way too long....and I honestly don't know when the last time was that I posted either...and I'm just too lazy to look! Haha. The year is almost over, and I just about made it!....Because I like to finish things I will indeed finish the thankful posts before the end of the year, just not tonight. I just wanted to say "Hey, I'm still here!" and I WILL finish if it's the last thing I do, and you know what, it probably will be the last thing I do.

But...I don't go back to work until January 2nd, so after all the Christmas craziness I may be able to stick in a super long post (because of all the "thankfuls" I'll have to catch up on) before January 1st! I promise it will come! Until then...

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! And I am so excited! I've been ready for this for what feels like forever, but it's really only been over a month! I was done with my Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving, and the wrapping, which is unusual for me, so it just felt like Christmas should have been closer than it was then. So I feel like a little kid this year....and Kohn will even tell you I snooped. And I'm not denying it. But there is a story behind it...

So when I was Black Friday shopping I found a pair of boots that I LOVED! And I told Kohn I needed them, because he was going to get me boots for Christmas anyway! So I took him in that store later, showed him the boots, and then left. Well later I was telling him some cute outfits those boots would go with and he tried to convince me he got a different pair of boots! Well...I was freaking out, because maybe I had been planning outfits for boots I wasn't even going to get! So, when he was working one day I opened the bag and saw that he was teasing and actually got me the right boots! So it wasn't really snooping....just checking. But I guess it's snooping because there was another present in the box with the boots, and there was another bag up there too. I didn't look in the bag, but because of the bag I knew what was in it, but still didn't look to see what they looked like....more shoes of course, cause you know how we are :) but again, I DID NOT LOOK! So props to me there! Right?

I promise I don't normally snoop, but it was all in the name of fashion....honest.

Alright, so what's been going on with our lives lately?

Kohn just finished another semester of school, and he did wonderfully! I'm so proud of him! And now while he's on break from school he's just working like crazy and building shelves for me and being the best ever! I sure do love him! :) Oh and he's being sexy as ever! :)

Me, well....I've been working, like usual. So nothing really exciting going on in my life, except now I'm on Christmas break and I'm crafting it up, baking it up, and hopefully will get to crocheting it up too! :)

Also, around Thanksgiving I started getting a really bad pain in my right side. We thought maybe it was appendix, maybe a UTI, and honestly maybe just a really bad time of the month coming up...it was none of the above. The pain kept getting worse and to the point where I would have to curl up in fetal position, and sometimes I cried...yes, I did. So, I went to see a doctor. She thought maybe some cysts. So we scheduled an ultrasound for the next week....

So I went in the next week, got the ultrasound, didn't even see my doctor that day. The tech found a large cyst on my right ovary, about the size of a golf ball is what he told me. He told me he'd get the ultrasound sent to my doctor and she would call to let me know what she wanted me to do.

Well she didn't call til more than a week later and said she just wanted to see if it would pop on it's own, have me come back in 8 weeks and then go from there if it hadn't popped. So I didn't like the treatment I'd received and just didn't feel comfortable...so I went to a different doctor for a second opinion. And I sure got a second opinion....it's like the first one was a waste of my time.

He did an ultrasound to just see for himself and what he found was something bigger than a golf ball, and it wasn't just one, it was three that had kind of all clumped together and formed what we seem to be one. So he decided he wanted to do surgery, forget the letting it pop on it's own business. He said he'd not seen something like it before, and it wasn't normal...

How can two appointments be completely different from each other? But boy am I glad I went to that second one. So now I'm scheduled to have surgery on January 14 to get those suckers removed. And please oh please get rid of the pain! Sure it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it hurts, bad.

So that's my thoughts there....I think I just had to get that out there because due to a previous status posted by my brother in law some people think I am pregnant. Which I AM NOT. Exactly the opposite. Doctor said the cysts make my hormones all out of balance, they make my cycle very irregular, and it makes it so my right ovary is not ovulating so it would be very difficult to get pregnant with the cysts because of what it's doing to my body right now (sorry if this is too much info for those reading, but I'm just sayin)....so let's just clear that up. I AM NOT preggers. Nor will I be for a looooong time. Babies are expensive.

Well now I just don't know what to say. But I believe that should clear things up. K thanks for reading. Oh....and....

MERRY CHRISTMAS! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! (All that good stuff!) :)
