Week 24!!!

Can you believe that August is halfway done! I swear I was just writing about Kohn getting back from Seattle, which was the 1st of August! Time seriously flies, and I know I say that all the time! But I found out I was pregnant in April, 4-almost 5-months ago and I thought time would never pick up. And here we are, more than halfway. I'm only a short 4 weeks away from the 3rd trimester!

A friend of mine made a very good point, it's only going to get faster cause we're coming up on all the holidays before baby comes! We've got school starting (I know, not a holiday, but still), then Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! But our baby will be here before Christmas, and maybe even a little bit before Thanksgiving, but I highly doubt that. Who knows though? We'll just have to see, and it'll be here to know before we know it!

We are trying to figure out how we want to do Nixon's nursery. I think we've both decided we really like the blue and brown look. But we might look blue and gray. We're not entirely sure, but it's fun making all these little decisions! And it'll be even more fun when everything starts getting put together, like painting the nursery, and putting the crib together, and setting up the bedding in the crib! Oh I'm excited!

P.S. I might have said it before, but oh well, I'll say it now too. When Nixon is here you can expect there to be pictures on my blog posts. I think I just need to figure it out first haha

So, let's talk a little more about Nixon! :)

*Nixon is the size of a cantaloupe.
*It's not visible by ultrasound, or probably even very dark, but Nixon has hair on his head!
*Little man is figuring out the breathing technique! :)

How far along? 24 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: 15 pounds. Right on track but still freaks me out.
Sleep: Sleep is starting to become harder because getting comfortable is harder.
Best moment this week: Definitely hearing his heartbeat at my appointment yesterday.
Miss anything? I've said it before and I'll say it again, running.
Food cravings: They're these awesome crackers called Nut-Thins. So good.
Have you started to show yet? Yes, yes I have.
Gender? BOY!!!!!
Labor signs? Nope.
Belly button in or out? In but it will be out soon enough.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time? I've been pretty happy this week!
Looking forward to: Just getting further and further along  :)

Week 23!!!

Another week has come and gone and here we are. I thought measuring the pregnancy in weeks would make it go by slow but I actually kind of like it. Because the baby progresses so much so fast that something new is happening every week. I love it!

Baseball is done this year :( I can't believe how fast the season went, meaning how fast summer went! But next baseball season Kohn will have his baby boy cheering him on (as much as a baby can) and that will be fun! :)

All we've really done in the last week is work and do the usual so I think we'll make this a short post and jump right on over to covering baby stuff!

*Nixon is as big as a grapefruit!

How far along? 23 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: I don't know at this point.
Sleep: Nixon thinks it's time to roll around and kick when mommy decides she's going to lay down to sleep. But his kicks are still small enough that they don't wake me up yet so I still usually get decent sleep.
Best moment this week: Nixon had been sort of quiet and not moving a whole lot since Monday and I was worrying about it but when I sat down and ate a bowl of Reeses Puffs he was all over the place, so that was pretty awesome! :) but he is still small enough that there will be days that I go without feeling him.
Miss anything? Tying my shoes without it being a chore. And I'm not even as big as I'll be haha I'm in for it!
Movement: Yes, as I mentioned above :)
Food cravings: Now I just want to eat Reeses Puffs all the time.
Have you started to show yet? That I have.
Gender? BOY!!!!!
Labor signs? Nope.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time? I've been pretty happy this week!
Looking forward to: My appointment next week so I can hear his little heartbeat again :)

Week 22!!!

This week has been a weird week. Kohn has been in Seattle since Sunday, and I've been alone. Other than late nights at work these are the first nights we've spent apart since we've been married. 4 nights to be exact, and I am not a fan. He went to Seattle for work, so basically he got paid to play(ish), so it was great for him to get some vacation cause he always works so hard, but I just really missed him! I am tracking his flight right now, he's almost landing in Salt Lake! I'll be seeing him around 9:30! :)

This week has also been a weird one because...I don't even know how to explain it. All I know is I'm grateful for prayer, moments of peace, and the strong people in my life.

I don't really know much of what to say. I had a pretty boring week without my husband, though I did try to fill my time with family so that was nice. Oh but we have taken up tennis, so I'm excited to be able to play tomorrow. It's been a good little workout for this pregnant girl. I am excited to be able to play next summer when the baby is out of my belly and I don't have to worry about hurting him or anything, and getting out of breath 2 minutes into the game ;)

Anyways, let's talk about Nixon!

*Nixon is the size of a papaya!
*When I get hungry, which is practically all the time it seems, Nixon can hear my tummy grumbling.
*Nixon is getting closer to being able to see bright lights, we'll have to experiment and put a flashlight to my belly and see if he turns away!

How far along? 22 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: Probably 12ish based on what I should be gaining and I've been pretty on track so far.
Sleep: Nixon thinks it's time to roll around and kick when mommy decides she's going to lay down to sleep. But his kicks are still small enough that they don't wake me up yet so I still usually get decent sleep.
Best moment this week: It will definitely be when Kohn gets home! :)
Miss anything? I really miss running! I know I've said it before, but I really do.
Movement: Yes, he's been an active little guy.
Food cravings: Steak sounds really great.
Have you started to show yet? Yeah, I just think I look fat though, haha
Gender? BOY!!!!!
Labor signs? Nope.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time? This time I'll say moody.
Looking forward to: Kohn getting here, obviously, and I'm sure you knew I was going to say that! :)

Week 21!!!

I've heard it said that if grandma's don't like the name you've picked for your baby then you've picked a good name....Grandma McMurdie doesn't like our name of choice. So I will believe what I've heard said to be true.

We were sitting in sacrament meeting one Sunday a month or so ago and Kohn had a lightbulb moment (he may or may not have been on google during the meeting) and decided he had picked the winning boy name. It was actually a name I had never considered, mainly because I had never really even thought of it, but once he said it I liked it, it had a good ring to it, and since then, it's been the name we were going to use if we had a boy. The name that Kohn found by divine inspiration (obviously since it was during church ;) ) is Nixon. Nixon Grey Thedell. I like it.

I think the thing that excites me most about having a boy is that Kohn gets to play catch with him and teach him all about baseball when he's older. Kohn is so cute with our nephews and my older (age 9ish) boy cousins, so I know he's going to be Nixon's best pal, besides mommy ;) Kohn is going to be the best daddy!

The rest of this post could probably be all about how wonderful Kohn is but then I'd never stop typing so we'll just talk about the baby now!

*Nixon is the size of a pomegranate, weighing in at 1 pound, and believe it or not I do feel it on my lower back, oh how will it be when he's 6 pounds and more?!
*He now hiccups often to practice breathing and swallows amniotic fluid to practice eating. Interesting fact, I think so anyway, the amniotic fluid tastes like whatever I eat, so when I eat cookies, Nixon eats cookies--lucky boy ;)
*Nixon resembles a miniature human but would still fit in the palm of your hand.

How far along? 21  weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: About 10 pounds.
Sleep: I don't remember the last time I actually slept completely through the night. I wake up 2-3 times in the middle of the night, but luckily am able to fall quickly back to sleep.
Best moment this week: It's just so fun to get to refer to our baby as a HE instead of IT.
Miss anything? I really wanted to lay flat on my back in the grass the other day.
Movement: Oh yes. It's funny though, because when I tell Kohn that his son is awake he'll put his hand where I point to and wait and wait and wait, and then as soon as Kohn moves his hand off my belly Nixon will give me a good, hard kick. Sorry daddy ;)
Food cravings: I didn't realize it until today, but I've really liked breakfast foods, especially french toast.
Have you started to show yet? Yes, we went to Bear Lake yesterday and my swimsuit does not fit the same way it did a month ago.
Gender? BOY!!!!!
Labor signs? Nope.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy.
Looking forward to: Next week being over.

Week 20!!!

We are halfway there! And the weekly countdown number is now in the teens! If the last half of the pregnancy goes as fast as the first half then baby boy will be here before we know it! Sometimes it still seems so surreal to me!

So this last week was pretty fun! Wednesday came and we got to find out what gender our sweet little baby is! When we first started the ultrasound he was laying on his belly so there was no sign of "that", so the tech did everything else. She looked at the brain, the heart, the kidneys, all those exciting things. It actually was pretty cool because we could totally tell what the brain and heart were! Of course the heart was beating so that was hard to miss, but we were able to see all 4 chambers, which we thought was cool! And then when she was showing us the brain, it totally looked like a little person brain, so awesome! The kidneys and other things looked like blobs, but the tech said everything looked great, so that is perfect! We obviously were able to tell what the nose, mouth, hands, and feet were too! And it was fun to see him moving around!

When it came time to do the gender part the tech asked us if we wanted to know, of course we said yes, and she said "I was hoping you wouldn't say that" because he was being so difficult. But after poking at him for a few minutes he FINALLY rolled over and revealed his man parts ;) It seems we have a thumb sucker on our hands already. I don't think that hand left his mouth once the whole time, except for when he was getting annoyed with us and it looked like he was trying to wave us away ;) He also sat on his foot the whole time so we were only able to see one foot, but the one foot we did say looked exactly like it should. The 3D pictures were pretty cool, and I loved seeing the little baby face! It's crazy that such a little miracle is happening here! :)

So let's talk more about baby boy :)

*He is the size of a banana!

How far along? 20 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: About 10 pounds.
Sleep: Same same.
Best moment this week: Duh, finding out we're going to be having a little boy! :)
Miss anything? Normal hormones.
Movement: I finally have felt some karate chops to the belly! I've noticed he's especially active during nap time at work, maybe he likes the nap music, or maybe it's because I'm finally not going, going, going, and I just get to sit there and read a book and relax.
Food cravings: I am really liking Marshmallow Matey's.
Have you started to show yet? I was called "tubby" today by my brother-in-law, what do you think? ;)
Gender? BOY!!!!!
Labor signs? Nope.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On. But the dang heat is making me swell. So who knows how long they'll stay on.
Happy or moody most of the time? Emotional.
Looking forward to: Picking colors and theme for the nursery!

Week 19!!!

I remember wanting to be this far along so bad, because it was the point where things would start to feel more real, but I thought it would take ages to get here. But what do ya know? We are here! And we find out what gender our baby is in less than a week! Excited is an understatement! Kohn says he's a little nervous to find out though because knowing the gender is what's going to make it real for him, because we'll be able to do everything according to the gender now.

We made another baby purchase today. Just the changing pad, nothing big, but it's a purchase, and it's exciting! Next week we'll obviously be making more purchases too! The first thing we've decided to do after our gender ultrasound is to go buy an outfit for baby! Pink or blue? I'm excited to see!

Oh and just p.s. Despicable Me 2 is so cute! I would see it again, and again, and again! It's so funny! I highly recommend it!

And on another note, I'm so sick of this heat! Who is with me? It's awesome that it's summer and everything, but I think I'm already ready for it to cool down, I love fall and am excited for it to be here! I think winter will be my favorite this year though! :)

Baby time!

*Baby is the size of a mango, weighing about 1/2 a pound!
* Baby can make more intricate facial gestures, such as frowning or smiling!

How far along? 19 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: Not sure.
Sleep: Sleep is sleep, but I definitely like it a whole lot more.
Best moment this week: Realizing how close our ultrasound is! :)
Miss anything? Laying on my tummy!
Movement: I still haven't felt any but I know it's happening!
Food cravings: If I see you eating something good then chances are I'm going to want it, that's the way I crave.
Have you started to show yet? More and more. Still not definite looking though.
Gender? I'll tell you next week! You have know idea how excited I am to finally be able to answer this question with a solid answer!
Labor signs? Nope.
Belly button in or out? In. But I have noticed that I can see my incision in my belly button more than I've ever been able to see it, so there's gotta be some protruding of the belly button there.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time? I feel like this has been a happier week for me!
Looking forward to: Easy question-finding out the gender in 6 days! Wooooooo!

Week 18!!!

I ate chicken TWICE today. Miracle of miracles. We went to Crystal Hot Springs today for our niece Hallie's 7th birthday and had KFC chicken, and as hesitant as I was I ate it, and I liked it. And then for dinner (because I just didn't have the energy to cook dinner) I got chicken strips at Sonic. This is a big step for me because chicken was one of my BIG pregnancy food aversions. It still depends on what type of chicken it is if I will eat it or not, but apparently the greasy fried chicken settles just fine with baby!

It's been a fun week, once we were done with the working part ;) I get 3 saturdays in a row! Going back to work Monday might just be a bit difficult, so I'll continue to enjoy my Saturdays for now ;) Wednesday night we went to the USU fireworks, and it was a pretty great show this year, next year we'll have a little baby, maybe I'll have to watch from a further (not so loud) distance, but it will be worth it. Then on the 4th Kohn ran a 10k in the morning and did awesome! 43:53---stud. Then we went to the Lewiston parade, just kind of lounged around all day and ended it with a family BBQ in Weston. Then this morning Kohn went into work at 6, worked for 4 hours, and then we headed to Crystal Hot Springs. It was fun! I wish everyday could be holiday/weekend!

Baby time!

*Baby is the size of a sweet potato!
*Baby can hear daddy now too!
*Baby has perfected his/her hiccuping!

How far along? 18 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: Not sure this time around!
Sleep: Sometimes I just really want to sleep on my belly, but my side will have to do for the next 5 months...
Best moment this week: We brought home our first baby purchase!
Miss anything? Can't say I do
Movement: Not yet...18-22 weeks is the average time that you can normally feel it, so any time in the next month I should.
Food cravings: Tootsie rolls!
Gender? We'll know in 1.5 weeks :)
Labor signs? Nope.
Belly button in or out? In. My belly button is so in I wouldn't be surprised if it never goes out.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And I never take them off so I don't know if I'd notice they got too tight.
Happy or moody most of the time? I'd say I was mostly happy this week, a few emotional episodes, but whatever haha
Looking forward to: Our 20 week ultrasound!
