A Recipe To Share!

All is well at the Thedell home! Same things as usual-work, school, work. And for now, we like it that way!

Kohn has been working a little more than usual (actually kinda a lot more) because they have a show coming up...Kohn gets workout equipment ready so when stores like Sears and Dick's and such come to ICON, they look at what ICON has to offer and decide what to buy and you get the point...so, Kohn has been working a lot...and that leaves me to....make yummies! :)

So, I wanted to share with you what I made today. It is one of my favorite desserts! I don't usually make it though, but this recipe was ridiculously easy, and fast, and delicious, so I may make it more now...

Before I share it with you I just need to clarify it is not MY recipe...I found it on pinterest, which led me to the blog it was from...which you can find by going here... www.theviewfromthegreatisland.blogspot.com :) Anyways....here it is! And enjoy! So good!

Oatmeal Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

Preheat oven to 350

Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
2 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

*Cream the butter, sugars, and vanilla in a bowl. Add in the egg and beat well.

*Add in the oats and mix with spatula until well blended.

*Spread out evenly in an 8x8 baking pan and bake for about 20 minutes, until just golden. Let cool while you prepare the frosting.

*Add chocolate chips and peanut butter in a bowl and microwave on short bursts, stirring until the chocolate just melts and the mix is smooth and creamy.

*Spread over the partially cooled base.

*Refrigerate until completely firm. Enjoy straight from the fridge!

SERIOUSLY SOOOO YUMMY!

All That Surgery Stuff.

All I want to do is scrub the floors, do the dishes, scrub the counters, and just scrub...but when I just sit up I get all sorts of light headed and nauseous. This is not fun.

I'm supposed to go back to work tomorrow, and I actually really want to, because 3 days of nothingness is getting really old. I slept for 10 hours last night, and then came downstairs and fell asleep on the couch for a little nap a few hours later. It's just so exhausting doing nothing all day...

I went in for surgery Monday morning, I had to check in at 6:30 am. The surgery was scheduled to go from 7:30-8:45. Well surgery started at like 7:50 (I think). The last thing I remembered was laying on that table and episodes of Grey's Anatomy going through my mind (and that only makes sense if you watch that show), and then next thing I knew I was very groggy, everything was blurry, and I felt like I had just gotten done with the worst ab workout, EVER.

I don't remember much of the morning in the hospital after the surgery, but I guess I just really wanted a Diet Dr. Pepper, but only if it was diet. Apparently my pain was a 7, but I didn't want drugs, and I was fiiiine. And I would only take water if it came from Kohn. And I guess I was really set on my parents coming to my house to watch Pitch Perfect with me. And the anesthesiologist was hitting on me...and Kohn needed to beat him up. Haha I don't know. I'm just glad they got a kick out of it.

I was supposed to be discharged around 10:30, but we didn't get out of there until 12:30. Because I just don't handle anesthetics very well, and the nausea gets to me pretty bad. And hoooly cow, the gas that they put in my belly really does make my shoulder hurt!

The first day I just complained about my shoulder, Tuesday I complained a lot about my incisions and nausea, and today I just feel exhausted. And a bit nauseous, but nothing like it's been. Oh, and I'm fat. Kohn and I spent a few minutes laughing about how bloated my belly is from the gas, I can't wait for that to go away. I hardly eat anything, and I think it's due to the yucky feeling, and because I feel full all the time because of how bloated I am. This is not fun stuff, I'm telling ya!

But anyway, they got rid of those nasty cysts, and sadly found some endometriosis, and a small adhesion, but they burnt the endometriosis. I'm kind of bothered because I did get to talk to my doctor after the surgery, but I talked to him in the recovery room and don't remember a thing. He did talk to Kohn and kind of filled him in on some things, but I just want to be able to ask the questions I need to ask. But I have to wait for my post-op in 2 weeks. We were lucky though, because the doctor had talked about worse things happening, and they didn't happen, so that was a relief. But I think my mind will just kind of wander until I talk to my doctor. Poop.

I'm trying to be done with the pain killers, because I'm not supposed to drive on loritab, but I'm starting to feel it. Again, I say, this is not fun.

I knew this was a small surgery so I didn't expect to feel quite so awful. But I feel awful. I really am ready for this to just be done.

I'm still a little loopy, and let me tell you, when I was looking in the mirror yesterday I surely looked drugged up. And was finding great entertainment in looking at pictures of my ovaries...I really need to get out!!!

I've had some pretty great people around. My parents came to be with me right after surgery, Jenessa made us dinner that first night, and Chelsea made a delicious treat! Some of our neighbors brought over some fruit pizza (my favorite), Jean came over and took care of me yesterday and cooked dinner! And she gave me a cute little pampering gift bag! And of course I've had great friends and family texting and checking in on me. I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot to mention someone, because I can hardly think straight, but thanks to everyone! I've got some pretty great people in my life!

Nothing Exciting

School started today...poop. Goodbye husband! And he has two night classes this semester, so that is poopy as well! At least I have a job to keep me occupied....except at night, I don't have a job. Sometimes I've thought of maybe getting a little something on the side, like hostessing at a restaurant or something...but again, those are just thoughts.

I'm sitting here trying to find a reason behind this post, other than just because I wanted to type....

Surgery is in one week...I actually thought that my cysts might have popped before the surgery, just because it seemed like a long time to wait...but what do ya know? They sure did not pop. So surgery is still a go. Is it weird that I'm kind of nervous about it? All it is is a little incision...but from all the Grey's Anatomy I've been watching I think I've spooked myself, because it seems that on that show even the simplest surgeries can go wrong....oh well, I won't be on TV so there's nothing to be worried about. I just sometimes worry over nothing....a lot.

Oh, and p.s., we have an essential oils class this Wednesday, the 9th, at the Sky View rec center, 6-8 pm. We'll be learning about managing stress with the mood matrix oils! So if you're into that, you should come, it's FREE!

With that said...I don't know what to say. Maybe one day I'll really have a point behind this blog. But for now...we're kind of boring. And we kind of just work.

So I'll be done for tonight. And probably until I have something exciting to say.

Year in Review!

So now that I don't "have to" blog to keep up with my thankful posts I will just blog for fun. So it sounded fun to me to kind of look back and jot down little memories about the year 2012. It might be a little boring, because we have a kind of boring life with work and school, but I still think it will be fun anyway.

January 2012...I had to really think on this one, after all it was a year ago. All I could really think of was that I realized that I wanted to do childcare. And we started out our first real year together ;)

February 2012...I became the full time teacher at Discovery Depot and this was what I guess you could call a good experience...I grew from it, that's for sure. I also celebrated my 20th birthday (yes, I'm a young duck) it was my first birthday with Kohn and I together, and he sure spoiled me rotten. We went on a carriage ride in Salt Lake City, we ate at The Roof on top of the Joseph Smith Building, and it was fantastic! And of course he spoiled me with a fun shopping trip!

March 2012...We celebrated Kohn's 22nd birthday this month! We went to Salt Lake again and went out to eat at Ruth's Chris, a steakhouse that Kohn had been dying to go to! He was pretty pleased with that part of his birthday surprise and compares every steak he eats to the steak there! We also went and played at Boondox! Also during that weekend we went to the Festival of Colors which was the first time for both of us! We wanna make it a tradition....well at least we're going to try!

April 2012...Not much comes to mind on this one...all I know is that we worked and did school and loved being married!

May 2012...May was a good month! We got to go back to Indiana to go through the temple with Edna, an elderly woman that Kohn baptized on his mission! It was a special experience and of course we were thrilled to find any excuse to head that way! I also got a different job! I switched from home day care to a center called Best Friends! Best thing I've ever done for my "career"! I love what I do and the people I do it with!

June 2012...This month probably wasn't too exciting, but it was in the fact that we got to start spending our summer together! Oh but at the end of this month we ran our first half marathon! We beat our goal and had so much fun doing it!

July 2012...The usual happened this month, we celebrated 4th of July and the 24th of July! Lots of fireworks, parades, and cooking on the grill!

August 2012...In August we got to run the EPIC relay. Which goes from Sky View high school in Smithfield all the way to Teton Village in Jackson, Wyoming! What an experience that was! Surely we enjoyed it though because we're signed up to do it again this coming August!

September 2012...Kohn started school again, I became contracted at work, meaning I became the other 1 year old teacher and got benefits. And of course, Shawn's brother married Jen, and we like her! So that is always exciting! :)

October 2012...October was fun with Halloween and such! I dressed up as a hippy and Kohn was the coolest ever, a lego!

November 2012...November was BUSY! We celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary, we moved, and we ran RAGNAR in Vegas. Same idea as EPIC but I'm not really sure where we ran, pretty much just around outside the strip. But it was a good time! We got to run it with some friends and two of my AWESOME ;) brother in laws! Brad is especially awesome.....;) and then of course there was Thanksgiving and all the turkey you could possibly dream of!

December 2012...More business with holiday parties and of course Christmas! We spoiled each other rotten for Christmas and just loved having a break from work!

See, nothing too exciting, but it's exciting for me that I can remember most things that happened last year...but chances are I forgot to list some pretty cool things! Oops. That's how it goes.

But blogging is just going to be for fun now, you may see more posts, you may see less, I guess we'll just have to find out!
